Description: - Vitamins are non
energy producing organic compounds, essential
for human metabolism, that must be supplied in
small quantities in diet. The importance of Vitamins,
as a drug is primarily in prevention and treatment
of deficiency diseases and vitamins deficiency
occurs due to in adequate in take, malabsorption,
increased tissue needs, increased excretion, certain
genetic abnormalities and drug vitamin interaction.
However vibel forte contains all water-soluble
vitamins. These are meagerly stored, excess is
secreted with a little chance of toxicity. They
all act as cofactors for specific enzymes of metabolism.
The various components of vibel forte are as follows:
(A) Thiamine Hydrochloride
(Vitamin B1): The Thiamine is fundamentally
associated with carbohydrate metabolism. By combining
with the pyrophosphoric acid in nucleated cells
particularly in the liver, kidneys and WBC, it
is converted in the body to its pyrophosphate
which acts as a coenzyme in some reactions as
the decarboxylation of – ketoacid, hexos
monophophate shunt. The outstanding example of
its example of its effective use is in the treatment
of beriberi in which there is a gross deficiency
not only of thiamine but also of other factors
of Vitamin B-Group. There is some evidence that
neuritis associated with pregnancy and the neuritis
of pellagra is attributable to thiamine deficiency.
(B) Riboflavin 5 Phosphate
(Vitamin B2): Riboflavin is inactive
until phosphorylated flavine mononucleotide and
flavine adenine dinucleotide are its active forms
and these are involved as coenzymes in the respiratory
chain and in oxidized phosphorylation. There is
a little evidence that Riboflavin of therapeutic
value expect in the treatment of ariboflavinosis
.
(C.) Pyridoxine Hydrochloride
(Vitamin B6): Pyridoxine, pyridoxal,
and pyridoxamine, with occurs in food stuff are
collectively knaon as Vitamin B6 As a nutritional
supplement it is usually employed in conjunction
with other vitamins of B-Groups.
(D) Niacinamide:
Niacinamide produces improvement in the mental,
dermal & alimentary manifestation of pellagra
but neurological symptoms may need prolonged treatment
and the concomitant use of other vitamins of B-Group.
(E)It is component of coenzyme,
which function in carbohydrate, fat, steroid and
porphyrin metabolism.
These all components are essential in our body
metabolism and other necessary functions. Deficiency
of which will cause a number of problems like
dermatitis, diarrhoea dementia, dry scaly skin,
loss of hair, anemia, and beriberi. There are
many other malnutrition problems associated with
vitamins deficiency, which may cause severe or
mild problems.
Indications: -
1) Treatment of Pellagra, hartnup’s
disease, in peripheral vascular disease and as
hypolipoproteinemic.
2) Also used prophylactically
(2-10 mg daily) in infants, pregnant women, chronic
diarrhoeas, and patients on parenteral alimentation.
Glucose infusion unmasks marginal thiamine deficiency. |
