Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Nimesulide: 100 mg
Paracetamol: 500 mg
Description: Neulab Active is a safe Combination
of Nimesulide with paracetamol. Nimesulide is
a newer NSAID and is a sulfonanilide derivative. It
exerts its effect by reducing generation of superoxides
by neutrophils, inhibition of PAF synthesis and
TNF release, free radical scavenging, inhibition
of metalloprotinase activity in cartilage.
It is an analgesic and antipyretic in action,
apart from its anti-inflammatory action. It is
absorbed rapidly and completely after oral administration.
It acts by inhibiting the release of tumour necrosis
factor-alpha, acts as a competitive inhibitor
of histamine release and reduces superoxide anion
formation. It has better gastric tolerability than
other NSAIDs. Asthmic patients who develop bronchospasm
or intolerance to aspirin or other NSAIDs do not
cross react with Nimesulide. It is better absorbed
orally. 0 in 99% plasma protein bound.
Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic action
with weak anti-inflammatory activity. These effects
are related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
It raises pain threshold and is a good and promptly
acting antipyretic. Paracetamol does not stimulate
respiration or acid base balance and hence does
not increase cellular metabolism. It is an analgesic-
antipyretic of choice especially in patients in
whom salicylates or other NSAIDs are contraindicated.
Such cases include asthmatics. It also do not
results in gastric irritation or mucosal erosion
at therapeutic doses .So peptic ulcer patients
and in whom salicylates are not used because of
the risk Reye’s syndrome Paracetamol is
a safe drug to use.
