Plox
injection is a dry injection dosage form containing
Ampicillin and Cloxacillin with broad antibacterial
activity.
Composition: Each vial contains Ampicillin
250 mg as ampicillin sodium and
Cloxacillin 250 mg as cloxacillin sodium.
Ampicillin 500 mg as ampicillin sodium and
Cloxacillin 500 mg as cloxacillin sodium.
INDICATIONS:
1) Infections of respiratory tract, due to Strept.
pneumoniae, Strept. Pyrogenes and most strains of
H. influenzae.
2) Meningitis, due to N. meningitides, S.pneumoniae
or H. influenzae, and Listeria monocytogenes.
3) Urinary Tract Infections caused by E.coli, P.mirabilis,
Enterococci, Shigella, S.typhosa and other Salmonella
respond well to Plox injection. Plox injection administered
intravenously or intramuscularly is recommended in
the treatment of acute pyelonephritis particulary
in pregnant women because of its safety.
4) Gonorrhoea.
5) Bacterial endocarditis caused by Streptococcus
viridans or Enterococci.
6) Prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis& surgical
infections.
PRECAUTIONS: Renal and Hepatic impairment.
SIDE EFFECTS: Serious and occasionally, fatal hypersensitivity
to anaphylactic reactions have been reported patients
on penicillin therapy. These reactions are more frequently
seen following parenteral administration and are more
likely to occur in individuals with a history of penicillin
hypersensitivity.
DOSAGE:
Plox injection is recommended to be administered in
the usual dosage of 250 to 500 mg four to six hourly
daily by IM or IV route.
PRESENTATION: Pack of 25 x 500 mg vials with
sterile water for injection.
: Pack of 25 x 1 gm vials with sterile water for injection.
