Description:
Pentazocine has weak antagonistic and more marked agonistic
action. Tolerance psychological and physical dependence
to pentazocine develops on repeated use.
Composition: Each 1ml Ampoule contains: Pentazocine
Lactate
as Pentazocine: 30mg
Indications: Chronic/recurrent moderately serve pain
associated with surgery, trauma colic, burns, and
preanaesthetic medication.
Contra Indications: Hypersensitivity, children
below 12 years, coronary ischaemia and myocardial
infarction, renal or hepatic impairment.
Special Precautions: Avoid movements for
15 minutes after injection. Avoid alcohol, driving
and handling of machinery caution in cases of respiratory
depression impairment.
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting, euphoria, sedation,
dizziness minor, psychic disturbances, and rapid I.V.
injection may cause cardiac/ respiratory depression.
Dosage: 25 to 100 mg up to 4 times daily
by i.m. /i.v. Route according to the case.
