Description:
Hydrocortisone is a short acting glucocorticoid with
rapid onset action. It is given parentrally
In the management of various conditions.
Composition: Each vial contains: Hydrocortisone
100mg
as Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate.
Indications: Treatment of adrenocortical function
abnormalities or insufficiency, allergic reactions,
Anaphylactic or anaphylactic reactions, angioedema,
allergic rhinitis, serum sickness, Transfusion reactions,
acute rheumatic carditis, systemic lupus erythematosus,
various forms of Dermatitis, severe erythema multiform
mycosis fungoids, severe psoriasis, inflammatory bowel
disease, ulcerative colitis, enteritis (Cohn's disease),
anaemia, hepatic diseases, non rheumatic inflammation,
nephritic syndrome, acute or chronic allergic ophthalmic
conditions, respiratory disorders, rheumatic disorders
and shock treatment.
Contra Indications: Risk-benefit should be considered,
if the following conditions exist-AIDS, HIV Infection,
Anastomoses, Cardiac disease or congestive heart failure,
hypertension, Renal, hepatic or thyroid function impairment,
chickenpox measles, colitis, esophagitis, Diabetes mellitus,
systemic fungal infection, gastritis, myasthenia gravis,
tuberculosis.
Adverse Reaction: Adverse effect increase more
with the duration of therapy and with the frequency
or Administration than with the dosage. Too-rapid withdrawal
of therapy may cause acute withdrawal syndrome, whenever
possible the reduction of dose should be gradual.
Precautions: Problems is humans after breast
feeding have not been documented, however, breast Feeding
under higher doses is not recommended, as they may be
cause-unwanted effects in the infant.
Dosage and Administration: Intramuscular or intravenous:
100 to 500 mg (base): may be repeated every 2 to 6 hours,
depending on the patient's condition and response. The
paediatric dose is 0.6 to 4 per Kg body weight or as
directed by the physician.
Presentation: Box of 25 vials containing 100mg
Hydrocortisone.
