an aminoglycoside antibiotic, produced by Micromonospora
purpurea & available as Sulphate.Gentamicin
is effective against Pseudomonas, E-coil, Proteus,
A. aerogenes, K. Phenumonas, salmonellae &
group. Abetahemolytic streptococci, Staphylococci
are also highly sensitive including those resistant
to penicillin, neomycin & Kanamycin. The inhibitory
concentration of Gentamicin can produce a bactericidal
effect. Resistance develops slowly but cross-resistance
to Kanamycin & neomycin can occur.
Composition: Each ml contains
Gentamicin 40mg
as Gentamicin sulphate
INDICATIONS:

klebsiella & serratia & by other species
resistant to less toxic antibiotic. The infections
so treated include Urinary Tract infections,
peritonitis, meningitis, osteomylitis septic
burns, otitis, pneumonia & bacteremia.
