Description:- Zin is a non sedating second generation anti-allergic drug. this drug has the advantage of not impairing psychomotor performance , produce no subjective effects and also do not potentiate alcohol or benzodiazipines .It competitively antagonise actions of histamine at H1 receptors by effectively blocking H1 receptors and hence blocks histamine induced bronchoconstriction, contraction of intestinal and smooth muscles and triple response.
It has antiallergic actions and manifestations of immediate hypersensitivity are suppressed .It does not cause dipression of CNS. It has minimal anticholinergic action .
It is well absorbed through oral route and is widely distributed in the body. Its duration of action is 12-24 hours or more.
Indications:
* Allergic rhinitis , ocular symptoms like redness, lacrimation
and itching.
*Chronic urticaria, dermographism, atopic eczema
and contact dermatitis, acute allergic reaction due to drugs, food & insect
bites.
*It is also used in purities, common cold, motion sickness, vertigo, cough.
* It is also beneficial in pre anesthetics medication , parkinsonism, acute muscle dystonia .
Contra indication: Pregnancy, lactation and children.
Dosage: 10 mg once daily or as directed by the physician.
Presentation: Zin is available as 1x10 tablets in a Multicarton.
