Ciprofloxacin .......250mg
Description: Ciprofloxacin
is a most potent first generation flouroquinolone
antimicrobial agent with potent activity against
a broad spectrum of gram- positive and gram-
negative bacteria including Ps. aeruginosa,
Enterobacteriaceae
and Staph. aureus. Ciprofloxacin does not disturb
normal anaerobic intestinal flora and has significant
post–antibiotic effect & thus prevents
regrowth of bacteria.It has remarkable microbiological
features like
· Rapid bactericidal activity and high
potency.
· Relatively long post antibiotic effect
on enterobacteriacea.
· Low frequency of mutational resistance.
· Low Propensity to select plasmid type
resistant mutants.
· Active against many beta lactum and
aminoglycoside resistant bacteria.
Indications: Ciprofloxacin
is effective in broad range of infections .It
has wide spectrum bactericidal activity. It
is a drug of choice in
· Respipiratory tract infections, tuberculosis,
Urinary tract infections, E.N.T. , skin and
soft tissue infections, conjunctivitis.
· Gastro intestinal tract infections,
Intra abdominal infections, Gynaecological infections,
meningitis.
· Infections bones joint soft tissues
and severe systematic infections.
· Gonorrohea, chancroid,bacterial gastroenteritis
· Ciprofloxacin is now first drug of
choice in typhoid fever
Contraindications : Hypersensitivity
to ciprofloxacin or any other quinolone
derivative . Not recommended for use in children
and adolescents.
Paediatrics: Safety not established.
Pregnancy: Contraindicated.
Lactation: Drug passes into
breast milk may affect the infant adversely.
Dosage: 250-750 mg twice in
a day.
Presentation: Ceflox 250 mg
as 20 x 10 tablets in a Multicarton.
