COMPOSITION:
-
Amoxicillin trihydrate
Equivalent to Amoxicillin…………..250
mg
Cloxacillin sodium ………………….250
mg
DESCRIPTION: - Amoxicillin is
semi-synthetic amino penicillin, an analogue of
ampicillin, with a Good spectrum of bactericidal
activity against many gram- positive and gram-negative
microorganisms. Amoxycillin is stable in presence
of gastric acid and may be given without regard
to meals. It acts through inhibition of biosynthesis
of cell wall mucopeptide and bacterial cell explodes
due to internal pressure. Its oral absorption
is better and has higher and more sustained blood
levels. It has low incidences of diarrhea. It
is active against shigella and H.Influenza.It
is also more active against those microbes which
are sensitive to PenicillinG; in addition many
gram-negative bacilli like E.Colli, proteus, Salmonella
are inhibited. Cloxacillin has an isoxazoly side
chain and is highly penicillinase as well as acid
resistant. It is more active than methicillin
against penicillinase producing Staph. It absorbed
from gut. A combination of Amoxicillin and Cloxacillin
is clinically effective against a wide range of
gram-positive and gram-negative organisms including
penicilinase-producing bacteria.
INDICATIONS: -
§ Respiratory Tract infections including
Bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media.
§ Urinary-urinary, skin and soft tissue infections.
§ ENT infections due to susceptible strains
of Gram-negative organisms like. H.influenzae,
E.coli, P.mirabilis and N.gonorrhoea.Gram positive
organisms like streptococci (including streptococcus
faecalis) D.pneumoniae and non-penicillase producing
staphylococci.
Contra-indications: - Individuals
with a history of an allergic reaction to the
penicillins.
