Each Capsule contains
Amoxycillin trihydrate
Equivalent to Amoxycillin………..250
mg. / 500 mg.
DESCRIPTION: -
It is semi-synthetic amino penicillin, an analogue
of ampicillin, with a Good spectrum of bactericidal
activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative
microorganisms. Amoxycillin is stable in presence
of gastric acid and may be given without regard
to meals. It acts through inhibition of biosynthesis
of cell wall mucopeptide and bacterial cell
explodes due to internal pressure. Its oral
absorption is better and has higher and more
sustained blood levels. It has low incidences
of diarrhoea. It is active against shigella
and H.Influenza.It is also more active against
those microbes which are sensitive to Penicillin
G; in addition many gram-negative bacilli like
E.Colli, proteus, Salmonella are inhibited.
Indications: -
§ Respiratory Tract infections including
Bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media.
§ Genito-urinary, skin and soft tissue
infections.
§ ENT infections due to susceptible strains
of Gram-negative organisms like. H.influenzae,
E.coli, P.mirabilis and N.gonorrhoea.Gram positive
organisms like streptococci (including streptococcus
faecalis) D.pneumoniae and non-penicillase producing
staphylococci.
Contra-indications: - Individuals
with a history of an allergic reaction to the
penicillins.
Paediatrics: Safe.
Pregnancy: No evidence of risk.
Lactation: safe.
Elderly: No known problem.
Side effects: Nausea, vomiting
and diarrhoea. Urticaria, skin rashes
And serum sickness.
Dosage: Adult: 250mg -1 gm
thrice daily.
Children: 20mg/ kg body wt.
in 3 divided doses.

§ Labmox 500 mg available as 10 x 10 capsule
in one multicarton.
