Description:
Benzyl Penicillin is narrow spectrum penicillin with
limited activity against gram-positive bacteria.
Composition: Each vial contains:
Benzyl Penicillin 500000Units/ 1000000 Units
Indications: Streptococcal infections like
Pharyngitis, Otitis media, Scarlet fever,
Rheumatic fever. Pneumococcal infections like Otitis
media, Meningitis
Osteomyelitis. Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Diphtheria, Tetanus,
gas gangrene, Trench mouth, Rat bite fever.
Contra indications: Hypersensitivity, Allergic
diathesis, rash, itching, urticaria, fever
wheezing, angioneurotic edema.
Special precautions: A scratch test or intradermal
test may be performed first.
Side effects: Pain at I.M. injection site,
mental confusion, muscular twitching.
Convulsions, coma, CNS stimulation, hallucinations
Dosage: 200-800 Thousand units Q.I.D 1 hour
before and 2 hours after food.
