Composition:
Each 5 ml Contains:
Cefadroxil Monohydrate
Equivalent to Cefadroxil: 125 mg
Description:- Cefadroxil comes
from a group of semisynthetic antibiotics obtained
from cephalosporin-C. It is chemically related
to Penicillin and is an Parahydroxy analogue
of Cefalexin. This is an bactericidal antibiotic
and produces its effect by inhibiting bacterial
cell wall synthesis. It attains high concentrations
in plasma and urine. The drug may be used once
or twice a day for UTI.
It has highest activity against Gram Positive
bacteria .Thus it is active against Staphylococci,
Streptococci including spyogens, veridans and
Pneumoniae.
Indications:
· Used in Respiratory, Urinary and soft
tissue infections caused by Gram-Negative bacteria
and organisms like Klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter,
sirratia.
· Used for septicaemias caused by Gram-Negative
Organisms.
· Used for surgical Prophylaxis.
· Typhoid: As alternative of fluoroquinolones
· Used to treat mixed aerobic and anaerobic
infections seen in cancer patients and patients
with colorectal surgery, obstetric complications.
Contraindications: Pateints
with any known allergy to cepholosporin.
Special Precautions: Renal
Impairment, Gastrointestinal disease.
Children : Safe
Dosage:Children: 20-50 mg/kg
body weight in divided doses every 12 hours.
Adults: 1-2 gm daily in two divided doses.
